In effort to fulfill our Mission Statement, the following shall be recognized and acknowledged:
- The dignity and worth of each person,
- the hopes and dreams in life,
- freedom from poverty and abuse,
- individual differences,
- personal choice in decisions that influence one's own life,
- advocacy and social supports through families and friends,
- and participation in the fabric of community and civic responsibilities.
History
In 1993, founder, Dave Gillespie, began a respite service for developmentally disabled adults. The service grew and one permanent resident was added. Two years later a non-profit organization was formed and received exemption from federal income tax. The organization has continued to grow and is currently operating three group homes in Brevard County. The Melbourne Group Home, newly completed in 2007, has 6 permanent residents in addition to respite service. The Palm Bay Group Home has 6 permanent residents and respite service, and the Reaves Group Home in Merritt Island also has 6 permanent residents.
